Being environmentally friendly and sustainable should be rewarded, at least according to Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven, who are now encouraging their customers to bring their own coffee mug and get a reward.

Clothing stores have chosen to charge for the bag and now Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven are charging for the coffee mug. Or rather, if you bring your own cup, you get a 3 SEK discount on your freshly brewed coffee. The issue of plastic consumption has become a highly topical political issue due to the large-scale littering of the oceans and nature. The EU has therefore decided to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic items. This is a campaign the chains have together with the Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation, where the goal is to reduce the consumption of disposable cups by half a million already in the first year. This is equivalent to about 5% of their total coffee sales each year.

Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven are the first to join the campaign, which began in May. According to Mariette Kristenson, CEO of Reitan Convenience Sweden, she hopes and believes that the chains can help change behavior because they reach such a large proportion of the population throughout Sweden. The stores have also decided to bring in environmentally friendly disposable cups, with 25 percent less climate impact, and that their coffee should be organic or UTZ-certified.

We at Deligate think the campaign is fantastic, encouraging a more sustainable lifestyle and less consumption of plastic.

Keep up the good work!
